چکیده

A 23 year old man was operated on because severe incompetence of the aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve caused congestive heart failure five months after a violent steering wheel injury. The following abnormalities were found at operation: a disrupted right coronary cusp, a torn chorda of the anterior mitral leaflet, a dilated tricuspid annulus, and an intimal tear on the aortic root near the right coronary ostium that had developed into an aneurysm of the sinus of Valsalva.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve: An Unusual Cause of Aneurysm of Left Coronary Sinus of Valsalva

Bicuspid aortic valve is traditionally considered an innocuous congenital anomaly. Due to a better and widespread availability of non-invasive imaging techniques, it has come to the fore that 30% of these cases develop complications, viz., valve abnormality (aortic regurgitation and stenosis), and aneurysm of aortic root and ascending aorta. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is an uncommon complicatio...

Unusual cause of rapidly progressive right-sided heart failure: aortic sinus of Valsalva aneurysm causing ball valve obstruction of the tricuspid valve.

A rare presentation with rapidly progressive right heart failure due to tricuspid inflow obstruction (simulating right-sided valvular heart disease) caused by a non-coronary cusp sinus of Valsalva aneurysm with small perforation is reported. The aneurysm was causing ball valve obstruction at the tricuspid valve, leading to dilated right atrium and back pressure changes which were relieved after...

Unruptured congenital aneurysm of the left sinus of Valsalva in an adult with complex left heart malformations.

A 26 year old man who presented with the first signs of right heart failure was found to have a large congenital aneurysm of the aortic sinus of Valsalva and of the left coronary sinus. These were combined with left heart anomalies in the form of a bicuspid aortic valve, a rare variant of a persistent left superior vena cava with blood flow from the left atrium through the brachiocephalic vein ...

Adult aortic coarctation discovered incidentally after the rupture of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm: combined surgical and interventional approach.

Combination of ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA), and a coexisting asymptomatic adult aortic isthmic coarctation is extremely rare. The timing and sequence of surgical and/or interventional repair of these two pathologies are controversial. We present a case of a 37-year-old male who was admitted to our department because of severe acute congestive heart failure and signs of ruptured an...

Progression of aortic regurgitation in Asian patients with congenital sinus of valsalva aneurysm.

BACKGROUND We reviewed the experience of An Zhen and Fu Wai Hospital for congenital sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) to determine risk factors for aortic valve replacement (AVR) and postoperative progression of aortic regurgitation (AR). METHODS Over a 7-year period, 255 patients underwent surgical repair of an SVA. Aneurysms originated from the right sinus and the noncoronary sinus in 212 pa...
